I’m very excited to announce that I am a finalist in the UK Blog Awards 2017!
This blog was brought into existence because I wanted to give attendees of my workshops, (and those unable to attend) a place to keep up to date with some of the news in the Eating Disorder and Mental Health fields – an arena of which I’m passionate about spreading awareness. I started out with a newsletter, which I wrote and a small team helped me produce. Over time the management of the newsletter became too much and, by looking at people’s needs, I came to realise that a blog – with which it is easier to share and interact– might be a better option. Thus Mental Health Bites was born.
I never once thought that I might be nominated for an award but, within just a few months, I was nominated for the UK Blog Awards 2016. I didn’t make it into the final round – and I wasn’t bothered one bit. I was just so glad that people cared enough about this field – and what I have to say about it – that they nominated me. So, when this year I was nominated for a second time, I felt immensely proud, although, just as last year, I expected that, I wouldn’t make the final cut. But I have done!
That means that ‘Mental Health Bites’ has made it through as one of the top 8 finalists in the UK Blog Awards 2017 (Health and Social Care category). I plan to be at the award ceremony in April where industry experts will pick their overall winner.
It’s such an honour to have made it through to be a finalist – and whatever happens beyond this point – I appreciate the encouragement of everyone who supports my work, reads the blog, and – especially – those who have voted for what I have written. Thank you
