In several editions of my previous newsletters I have written about the ever increasing funding cuts to NHS mental health services – a reality which has seen services struggle, access limited and a shortage of inpatient beds being available.
The scary reality of what a lack of funding causes has been especially visible during this last month as we saw the Care Quality Commission (CQC) close down a service in York with fears that the service did not possess enough staff to meet need, and perhaps even worse that the service had failed to carry out basic repairs to the water system which left patients at risk of being scalded.
We cannot allow things to continue to deteriorate at this rate. WE have to ask for change if we are unhappy.
If you want to do your little bit to help facilitate change then now is the time to do it, and a great (simple and easy) way to start getting involved would be to send your local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) the latest campaign email by Rethink. All you have to do is click on THIS LINK, pop in your details and they will send the email to your local CCG.
The more of us that get in touch – the better the chance that we are heard. One voice can speak clearly, but sometimes you just have to make a GREAT BIG NOISE!
I’d love to hear if you get a response.
